We were thrilled to host “The Cyberhive Matrix: Shaping the Next Steps of the Quadrant that Maps the European Cybersecurity Industry” during the Cyberhive EUROPE workshop on Wednesday, June 4th, at South Gallery Room 13 during the InfoSecurity Europe London conference.
This high-energy session brought together start-ups, investors, CISOs, and other key cybersecurity stakeholders to explore the Cyberhive Matrix, the first dynamic quadrant designed to map the European cybersecurity landscape transparently.
Feedback from the European Cybersecurity Ecosystem
As part of the mission of the Cyberhive, we want to integrate the feedback from the European cybersecurity ecosystem to make sure that our development takes into account the needs and concerns from Europe.
The core of the discussion centred around the Cyberhive Matrix, focusing mainly on the criteria, methodology and its development. These are the main highlights from the attendees:
- Gender Balance Criteria: Companies must ensure to provide training to women to assess the gender balance criteria in the Matrix.
- Expanding ESG Criteria: While the current ESG dimension is a step forward, participants highlighted the importance of broadening this perspective to incorporate environmental sustainability and related considerations
- Compliance with broader pieces of European legislation or equivalents, such as the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Act, needs to be considered.
- The Cyberhive Matrix should not be cautious about the type of information given to the public, especially with R&D.
- There was a strong call to maintain the active participation of CISOs in shaping the Matrix, including through the consolidation of CISO Advisory Boards to guide European cybersecurity providers.
One of the key strengths of the workshop was the active engagement of participants. Thoughtful questions, constructive critiques, and shared experiences enriched the discussion and confirmed the pressing need for tools like the Cyberhive Matrix to better reflect the nuances and strengths of Europe’s cybersecurity market.
The Cyberhive Matrix is not just a benchmarking tool but also a vehicle to foster visibility, investment, and growth across the European cybersecurity sector.
"The Cyberhive Matrix is a very much needed tool to advance for European digital sovereignty in this climate of geopolitical tensions"- quote from a participant
What is next?
As the initiative moves forward, the team is finalising entries for the upcoming edition of the Cyberhive Matrix. Applications will close tomorrow, and cybersecurity providers who wish to be considered are encouraged to submit their details as soon as possible.
Participation is completely free of charge and offers numerous benefits, including:
- Inclusion in a pan-European visibility tool used by buyers, investors, and analysts
- Benchmarking against peers based on transparent, community-led criteria
- Direct connection to a growing network of cybersecurity stakeholders across Europe
